ZIEGFELD children…

A year of traveling in a motor home in the USA, two children and lots of adventures...

It all started back then with a year-long RV trip (17,000 miles) across the US with our two little girls, Flore and Liv Ziegfeld.

We ran out of money after a few months, which forced us to think about fulfilling our lifelong dreams (without robbing a bank). At that point we were in beautiful Key West, Florida. With dozens of cruise ships docked in port, all those tourists needed a special souvenir! I went to the nearest Home Depot, grabbed some canvases and stored them between our RV's washer and dryer. This evolved into painting tourist motifs on the beach all day while my girls were busy playing by the sea.

At sunset we packed up and went to the Sunset Celebration to sell the paintings. It went great and we still had plenty of time to talk to our 4 and 5 year old kids about working, making money and dreaming. In the port we were surrounded by large cruise ships, one of which was flying a pirate flag. The children started talking about pirates and boys and girls. The next day Andrea drew a pirate girl: Pirate Paula was born.

The pirate theme sold well too, so we started thinking about a company I could start when I got back to Germany; That's exactly what we did in 2005.

Our vision of offering first-class products was soon recognized several times:

- Selected at the children's fashion fair KOMM for Art in the children's room.

- Award of the title "Talent" for children's products in Germany at the Tendence Lifestyle in Frankfurt.

- Member of the show "Kids' Own World" at the Tendence Lifestyle in Frankfurt.

-Member of the "Marketplace of Ideas" in Hamburg at the Early Bird Fair.

- Awarded the title "Young, innovative company" and for "Pimp Your Shop", both for the Paperworld trade fair in Frankfurt.

The selection of products now ranges from pirate Paula paintings to shirts, stationery, furniture and porcelain. In 2008 a pirate Paula children's book with a matching audio book was published.

Together the girls and I have developed over 70 motifs and characters in the last 10 years. In 2017 we had the chance to get the company back on track and this time it is fully family owned. We are currently in the process of fulfilling our dream of having pirate Paula take her first steps in animation!
